Position Summary

Phase 1 Equity is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to support the organization’s financial operations and accounting functions. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, preparing reconciliations, analyzing financial activity, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Staff Accountant will work closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support accurate reporting, operational scalability, and financial integrity across the organization.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete general ledger postings.
• Review and verify transactions for proper classification and coding within the general ledger.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
• Review income statement activity and support variance analysis and financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly roll-forward schedules and supporting documentation for accrual tracking and account analysis.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, transactional issues, and intercompany variances.
• Support maintenance of accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Partner with internal departments to resolve questions related to financial activity and reporting.
• Assist with audit preparation, reporting requests, and documentation gathering as needed.
• Support process improvement initiatives and help standardize accounting procedures across the organization.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting principles.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/financial systems.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with in healthcare, dental, DSO/MSO, or multi-site organizations.
• Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems.
• Experience supporting high-growth organizations or multi-entity environments.
