Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering firm focusing on the design, integration, and construction management of capital asset projects. We are seeking a proven Construction Manager.
They provide full-service project management from ideation, budgeting and capital approval, through construction and startup. They pride themselves not just in completing quality projects, but in developing partnerships with clients and vendors. This position will be based in our Illinois office; our projects will take you throughout the United States. Travel is required and can be expected to be 30-50%.
Job Responsibilities- Travel to job sites and ensure quality projects are installed per scope of work and drawings provided.
- Willing to stay on site for the duration of the project; first thing contractors see in the morning and last thing they see after a full day's work. If 12‑hour days are needed to meet schedule, those are the hours.
- Maintain good working relationships with plant personnel and ensure all needed work permits are available to contractors at the start of each shift. Check that all permit requirements are followed as intended.
- Write a daily report of the job progress and identify any issues that could result in a poor installation or schedule push.
- Show clear understanding of the scope of work and be willing to watch, observe, and report any issues to Project Managers.
- Effectively quote the job to determine if a change order is reasonable or out of line.
- Keep a positive attitude during all shutdown work, setting the mood for contractors.
- Respect contractors and avoid aggressive tactics; work with them to solve issues ahead of time.
- Keep all costs to a minimum while ensuring the job is done to the best of everyone's ability and meeting the projected budget.
- Understand provided drawings to ensure installation meets concept.
- Understand job site safety and be willing to correct contractors as needed in a firm but respectful manner.
- Read and understand all plant-related requirements to guide contractors to a successful install.
