The Instructional Paraprofessional is considered a ministerial employee by their role in a Catholic School and agrees to support the Catholic Church’s value system through everyday conduct. Essential duties & responsibilities- Assist in instruction and classroom management as directed by the principal.
- Initiate instruction, provide grades, and manage classroom activities in accordance with school policies.
- Coordinate lesson planning, material preparation, and assessment with the supervising teacher.
- Enforce the Code of Ethics and Professional Teaching Standards.
- Implement the educational philosophy of the local school.
- Support individual student learning, adjust instructional level, and provide guidance throughout the day.
- Attend faculty meetings, in‑service training, and teacher institutes as required.
- Collaborate with staff to supervise students and maintain discipline on campus.
- Report to students, parents, and the principal regarding student progress and conduct.
- Preserve secure communication with parents, securing principal approval for important matters.
- Participate in community outreach and support parental involvement in students’ education.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the principal.
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), Illinois Substitute License, or ELS(PARA) preferred; not required.
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred but not required.
$15.00 - $23.00 (final rate determined locally based on experience, education, and licensure).
Benefits- Paid personal leave days and paid holidays (benefits ineligible).
Employees may be required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, use hands, reach, ascend/descend stairs, and lift up to 20–30 pounds. Work may include outdoor student activities.
