Summary
The Student Financial Aid Compliance Analyst works with the Directors of Student Financial Services & Registrars, the Vice President of Enrollment & Financial Strategy, and the SFS Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with HEOA and federal regulations. The role serves as an expert in financial aid and student accounts regulations, leads training on regulatory changes across Midwestern University’s Arizona and Illinois campuses, and manages financial analysis and reporting related to student borrowing and institutional loan programs.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Conduct audits of financial aid awards and student accounts to uphold ethical standards and compliance with state, federal, and university policies.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled quality‑control audits on internal processes, including:
- Return to Title IV refund process
- Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Leave of absence
- Withdrawal
- Budget appeals
- Track changes to regulations affecting federal student aid and maintain department policies and procedures manuals in compliance with federal, state, and university regulations.
- Review university catalog and departmental webpages to ensure compliance standards are met.
- Collaborate with Directors of Student Financial Services & Registrars to provide leadership and staff training on new regulations and implementation procedures for all staff on both campuses.
- Track compliance with federal regulations via the Federal Student Aid Handbook, Federal Register, IFAP, and other governing documents, and administer the Self‑Evaluation Guide for Institutional Participation in Title IV.
- Maintain the university’s Institutional Disclosures webpages and track annual compliance of required student consumer‑information notifications.
- Lead MWU’s cross‑campus HEA Regulatory Compliance Working Group.
- Research federal financial‑aid, student‑accounts, and consumer‑disclosure questions, using appropriate resources.
- Review and suggest improvements to financial‑aid and student‑accounts practices.
- Administer annual Red Flags Rule training for all SFS and Registrar staff.
- Compile weekly, monthly, and annual reports, including tuition‑survey data, cost‑of‑attendance development, analysis of cost increases, and audit liaison duties.
- Provide quarterly reporting of the university’s private‑loan program.
- Conduct annual preparation and review of key student metrics.
- Perform other duties assigned by the SFS Compliance Manager.
Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Experience
: 3–5 years of previous work in a student financial services setting, with demonstrated ability to collaborate, train staff, manage multiple projects, and analyze complex data.

Excellent written and verbal communication, strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness.

Physical DemandsThe role occasionally requires standing, frequent walking, reaching with hands and arms, and the ability to lift or move up to 10 lbs regularly or up to 25 lbs occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision.
