Position Overview

As a Relationship Manager II – C&IB within PNC's Commercial Banking organization, you will be based in Libertyville, Downers Grove, or Chicago. You will work with the PNC Commercial Banking team to coordinate relationship management activities with new and existing clients in a book of business, grow sales, revenue, and market share, and keep strong client relationships.

Job Description

Coordinates relationship management activities with new and/or existing clients in a book of business to grow sales, revenue and market share with relevant sales goals. Works with clients with moderate levels of risk and complexity of needs, typically under a moderate degree of supervision. Acquires and/or expands and retains client relationships to generate revenue and deepen share of wallet. Handles origination, financial analysis, negotiation and documentation of credit and non‑credit products and services.

Manages risk/return and drives quality for new and/or existing clients. Actively identifies and mitigates different types of risk, such as regulatory, reputational, operational and credit risks. Focuses on client opportunities by providing ideas and insights based on an understanding of the client’s needs and their financial well‑being. Increases client engagement and loyalty and presents the full range of PNC’s products and services.

Leverages reporting and sales tools to proactively identify and successfully convert sales opportunities. Demonstrates ability to analyze, evaluate and mitigate credit risk for more complex credit requests by utilizing knowledge of advanced credit fundamentals and internal credit policies.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate relationship management activities with new and existing clients to grow sales, revenue and market share.
  • Analyze and document credit and non‑credit product opportunities, including origination, financial analysis, negotiation and documentation.
  • Manage risk and return, ensuring quality and compliance for new and existing client relationships.
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory, reputational, operational and credit risks.
  • Provide client insights and ideas that enhance client financial well‑being and deepen the share of wallet.
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships to acquire new clients and expand existing ones.
  • Present the full range of PNC products and services to clients.
  • Use reporting and sales tools to identify, pursue and convert sales opportunities.
  • Apply advanced credit fundamentals and internal credit policies to complex credit requests.
Qualifications
  • University or college degree with 5+ years of industry‑relevant experience, or a comparable combination of education, job‑specific certifications and experience.
  • Proficiency in credit processes, credit products, client relationship building, and financial analysis.
  • Strong decision‑making, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.
  • Experience with prospecting and selling in a commercial banking environment.
  • Tech savvy and proficiency with sales tools and reporting systems.
  • Ability to assess and manage risk in compliance with the Enterprise Risk Management framework.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with a track record of creating customized customer solutions.
  • Knowledge of internal credit policies and the ability to apply advanced credit fundamentals.
  • Preferred: experience managing a book of business and leading client engagement initiatives.
