Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Operations Manager
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day management of U.S. employee benefits programs, including:
- Health & welfare plans: medical/RX, dental, vision, life and disability
- Retirement plans: pension, 401(k) and non‑qualified plans
- Absence management policies
- Sourcing and implementation of new offerings or carriers as applicable
- Manage and/or respond to employee and field HR questions, resolve or escalations with carriers, track and analyze ongoing issues, and drive improvements to mitigate recurrence
- Monitor trends in employee benefits, gather benchmark data and recommend updates to align with market practices
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of benefits legislation, mitigate compliance risks, prepare necessary reports, support annual 401(k) and pension audits and complete compliance filings (e.g., 5500)
- Work with the Director, Compensation & Benefits to review, manage and monitor all U.S. enterprise benefit administration processes, including annual open enrollment, ensuring prompt issue resolution, continuous improvement of employee service levels, and identifying opportunities to standardize and automate processes
- Supervise benefits specialist and office assistant responsible for coordinating building matters, corporate and training room events, COBRA administration and other HR and benefit matters as applicable
- Provide advice and support to field HR, managers and executives on benefit‑related matters
- Provide employee benefits‑related analysis and/or data to leadership team as requested, support due diligence, set‑up and implementation of acquisition and divestitures, and support field HR in integration or divestiture requirements/needs
- Bachelor's degree in HR, business, finance or a related field area required.
- At least 5 years' experience in Human Resources and/or Benefits Administration required.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in progressively responsible HR or benefit management roles required.
- Benefits administration experience supporting at least 2,500 employees highly desirable; experience in a publicly traded company preferred.
- Compensation and/or pension plan administration experience desirable.
- Ability to source and synthesize data from multiple sources to create high‑level and detailed written analysis, provide explanations and propose relevant, cost‑effective solutions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to present material to a variety of audiences.
- Outstanding problem‑solving ability and affinity.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder relationships effectively; experience working in a corporate headquarters environment highly desirable.
- Ability to think quantitatively with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven track record of effectively implementing new benefits initiatives and solutions on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding of HRIS application benefit configuration and its impact on employee payroll.
- Proficiency managing large and complex data sets.
- Daily utilization and knowledge of Excel and other analytical and presentation tools; comfortable working with macros and pivot tables, and presenting data to inform and resolve questions or issues.
