Production Manager
Production Line Manager – 2nd Shift, Downers Grove, Illinois
Job SummaryManages all aspects of production for a value stream in a 24/7 manufacturing operation that produces premium, fresh-baked products. Coordinates production and technical activities in makeup and packaging. Directs hourly employees, drives attainment of business objectives, and guides team members to deliver results in safety, people, quality, delivery, and cost.
Principal Accountabilities- Operations Management – Manage manufacturing activities on one line to optimize production, utilization of resources, improve process efficiency, and product quality.
- Drive value stream performance with a zero-loss mentality, mentor team members in continuous improvement, and utilize metrics to meet production goals.
- Own Daily Direction Setting process, maintain timekeeping and production records, develop training plans, and communicate goals and results to the team.
- Coordinate with other shift leaders and functions to ensure staffing, maintenance, and scheduling alignment.
- Oversee FSQ team activities and maintain compliance with Safety, Quality, and CTS standards.
- Proactively manage safety programs, drive a zero-injury mentality, and develop action plans for risk reduction.
- Interpret and enforce Company policies, resolve employee issues, and maintain a positive employee relations environment.
- Ensure adherence to SQF, HACCP, CTS, safety, and calibration standards, and provide backup to Product Manager for GMP, food safety, and quality policies.
- Five or more years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment and an associate’s degree or higher in a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years experience managing/supervising employees in a manufacturing setting.
- Cross-functional experience delivering results in schedule attainment, safety, quality, and cost.
- Knowledge of OSHA, HACCP, GMP, and continuous improvement tools (A3, RCFA, 5 Why, etc.).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, training, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Computer proficiency in Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Stand for extended periods.
- Use hands, fingers, and arms to reach, feel, and manipulate materials and equipment.
- Walk, stoop, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
- Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull heavy loads up to 1,500 pounds.
- Office and plant floor settings, exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, electrical shock risk, fumes, airborne particles, temperature extremes, outdoor weather, high noise levels, forklift traffic, high/precarious places, and wet/humid environments.
- Compliance with safety regulations, plant safety initiatives, and use of prescribed safety equipment.
- Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing conditions.
Base rate $32.00 per hour. Total pay may include additional compensation. Health, dental, 401k, and wellness benefits begin on the first day of employment. All overtime and weekend work as needed.
