Unassigned Makeup and Packaging Bake Shop Helper

Downers Grove, Illinois
Base Rate per Hour: $23.00
Shift: 2nd
Hours:
Begins as early as 2:45PM and runs until finish. Overtime and weekend work may be required. Good attendance and punctuality are essential.
May be assigned to any of the following makeup and packaging positions on any line:
Makeup helper, Break Lunch Relief, Moulder Operator, Divider Operator, Oven Operator, Lidder, Pan Operator/Pan Area, Slicer/Feeder, Bagger, Caser, or Packaging helper.
Responsibilities include:
- Racking products as needed and monitoring bags for quality of product and packaging materials.
- Performing tasks requiring speed, manual dexterity, bending, and lifting; may stand in one position for prolonged periods and move pan trucks weighing up to 1,500lbs.
- Maintaining specific product weights at the divider.
- Setting up the oven and proofer per product centerlining and CTS.
- Lifting up to 50lbs and operating the bagger and kwik‑lok machines, casing products into baskets or cases while keeping up with line speed.
- Monitoring bags and codes for clarity and correctness, and checking for quality, proper wrap and bagging while understanding the code board.
- Feeding product into slicer or bagger flites and racking/unracking bread as needed.
- Assisting other positions during operation and other duties as requested.
- Strong decision‑making and communication skills with the ability to exercise good judgment and resolve issues promptly.
- Fill out communication boards daily.
- Food safety awareness: strict adherence to HACCP, CTS, SOP, safety, GMP, and JSA procedures and standards; focus on contamination prevention, allergen control, and lot code traceability.
- Formula control: abide by exact formula specifications and procedures to uphold bread quality and label contents.
- Maintain a “5S” clean, organized work area.
Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Physical Requirements- Stand for extended periods.
- Use hands, fingers, and arms to reach, feel product, and manipulate materials and equipment.
- Walk, stoop, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
- Use senses to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
- Regularly lift or move up to 50pounds and push or pull heavy loads on wheeled dollies.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, hot or cold temperature extremes, high industrial noise levels, forklift traffic, and wet environments.
- Compliance with safety regulations, use of safety eyewear, shields, gloves, earplugs, respirators, and approved footwear.
- Ability to handle a changing work environment, high‑pressure situations, and teamwork.
- May require overtime as necessary to support operations.
- 90‑day evaluation period and one‑year job commitment are required.
The starting rate for this full‑time, hourly position is $23.00. Individual base pay may vary by location and factors such as experience, job‑related skills, and relevant training.
