Production Scheduler
1st shift // $25-27 an hour
The Production Scheduler plays a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient production operations in a food manufacturing environment. This position focuses on verifying stock inventory, creating and committing production work orders, and coordinating closely with Purchasing and Production teams to manage raw material overages and shortages. The Production Scheduler also serves as backup support for other scheduling and project staff, helps maintain product safety and quality, and works with minimal supervision while reporting to the Scheduling & Materials Manager.
Responsibilities- Check and verify stock inventory on a regular basis to ensure accurate material availability for production.
- Create production work orders based on customer orders and internal planning requirements.
- Commit manufacturing orders (MO's) daily from previous days' orders taken, ensuring timely and accurate scheduling.
- Work closely with Purchasing and Production staff to manage raw material overages and shortages, adjusting schedules as needed.
- Ensure all printed orders are received from Customer Service daily and are incorporated into production plans.
- Provide backup support for other scheduling and project staff as needed to maintain continuity of operations.
- Control physical contaminants in the production environment to support product safety and quality.
- Properly store personal items to avoid contamination and comply with food safety standards.
- Report suspicious people or activities promptly to a supervisor or Human Resources.
- Collaborate with the Scheduling & Materials Manager and operate effectively with minimal supervision.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production planning, inventory management, and overall operational efficiency.
- Minimum of 4 years of production experience in the food industry is preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing and production scheduling, including schedule planning and production planning.
- Strong inventory and inventory management skills, including managing raw materials and organizing stored materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with Customer Service, Purchasing, Production, and management.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to weigh, measure, and convert amounts such as gallons, ounces, and fractions accurately.
- High school diploma or GED completion is required.
- Ability to speak and read English to follow instructions, documentation, and safety procedures.
- Ability to multi-task and switch tasks as needed in a dynamic production environment.
- Reliable and predictable attendance to support consistent production schedules.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Downers Grove, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
