The Beverage Applications Scientist will utilize experience, knowledge, and industry resources to conduct experiments in our beverage applications laboratory. This role will include product development, shelf-life testing, and analyzing beverage formulations for customer-specific projects. Employee must have a strong understanding of ingredient stability, ingredient interactions and the impact of overall quality and consumer acceptance of a formulation. The Beverage Scientist will evaluate products with a high degree of accuracy and acutely discern differences between formulations.

The Beverage Scientist is also responsible for remaining current with industry trends to develop innovative products, formulations, and technologies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and improve complete formulations for beverage applications concepts that meet technical and sensory requirements for projects and presentations including support for the Bench.
  • Support the Flavorists by creating applications and bases to evaluate flavors.
  • Support Sales and Marketing with technical presentations.
  • Efficiently and effectively duplicate beverages by employing reverse engineering techniques
  • Diagnose and problem solve formulation difficulties for clients
  • Reliable, predictable attendance is required.
  • Responsible for controlling physical contaminants, properly storing personal items, and reporting suspicious people or activities to their supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Chemistry or related field.
  • 3 years minimum of beverage applications experience
  • Experience working with flavors required
  • Proven technical and innovative abilities
  • Project management experience is preferred
  • Ability to present and speak in front of large groups preferred
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage science principles

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employee must have no food allergies and must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Employee must be able to lift 5-gallon pails across laboratory and move about the office, laboratory and storage areas including ascend/descend ladders or stairs. Employee must be able to consistently wear and work with appropriate PPE.

Salary Range: 80k - 90k depending on experience.
