Automation Technician

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated manufacturing equipment and production machinery.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with programming modifications when necessary.
• Support HMI interfaces, VFDs, servo systems, robotics, vision systems, and industrial communication networks.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automation equipment.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
• Install and replace sensors, motors, encoders, actuators, relays, contractors, and other automation components.
• Assist engineers with commissioning new equipment and automation upgrades.
• Support new product introductions, equipment installations, and process improvements.
• Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Document repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment modifications.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and recommend replacement components when needed.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company procedures.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Quality teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

• Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Electronics, or a related field preferred
• 3+ years of experience maintaining automated manufacturing equipment
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled machinery (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar)
• Knowledge of HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, motion control systems, and industrial networking
• Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical control panels
