We have a great opportunity for an Accountant to join one of our clients in the banking and finance industry. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely accounting and related reconciliations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and policies. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location. Expected starting base salary $62,000 to $75,000 per year.

Job Description:

Prepare and record monthly journal entries.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and sub-ledger accounts, such as Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, Construction in Process and/or Loans, investigate out-of-balances and recommend corrective action.
Verify and reconcile cash accounts.
Work closely with other departments in maintaining the accuracy of activities being posted in the general ledger.
Identify, recommend, and assist in implementing process improvements.
Document/update accounting processes and relevant desk procedures, as needed.
Assist the department with internal, external, and regulatory audit requests.
Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as required.
Support organizational initiatives, as well as departmental projects.

Requirements:

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Able to communicate with professionals at all levels
Able to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
Able to work with mainframe/transaction systems
Able to read and interpret financial and statistical data, information, and documents

Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience at the staff accountant level
Experience with account reconciliations and journal entry preparation
1 year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of the required education
