Contract Duration: 12 Months
Pay rate range: $55/hr.
- $60/hr. on W2.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- A Senior Backup Storage Engineer is responsible for leading and/or working on the most complex IT infrastructure, modification, installation, testing, implementation, and support of new or existing system hardware and software products.
- The Senior Backup Storage Engineer will plan, install, configure, test, implement and manage core system hardware and software products in support of an organization's IT architecture and business needs. Special organizational or functional industry position titles for backup storage engineers include, but are not limited to, Backup/Recovery Engineer, Storage Engineer, Backup Engineer, Backup Administrator, and Storage Administrator.
- The Senior Backup Storage Engineer, in maintenance and support of various backup and storage systems, (that includes Commvault, Dell/EMC, IBM, Net App, and Pure Storage), is responsible for the administration, installation, configuration, and maintenance of all backup and storage systems to include creating Commvault backup jobs for Linux, UNIX, Windows hosts, Network Attached Storage (NAS) NDMP, databases (DB2, SQL, Oracle, Postgre
SQL), masking/zoning/provisioning of storage to UNIX/Windows/VMware servers, performing data recoveries, and general troubleshooting. - The Sr. Backup Storage Engineer will be responsible for all data backup/recovery support for cloud service providers (Amazon Web Services - AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform - GCP, IBM Cloud), planning and upgrading the systems on a regular basis, checking the health of all the systems, and making necessary changes as required.
- They will analyze issues reported by internal/external teams and making necessary recommendations; planning and designing systems architecture; working with customers to test applications after changes; upgrade hardware in a timely manner with a minimum downtime window; evaluate new applications software technologies; and/or ensuring the security products are patched on a regular basis.
- The Sr. Backup Storage Engineer will possess in-depth understanding, knowledge and experience of Commvault Complete Data Protection; VMware data protection and recovery using VADP (VMware vStorage API for Data Protection); be proficient in configuring storage arrays with business continuity solutions; perform upgrades; execute storage migration and data center consolidation projects; and administer Pure Storage solutions, including both hardware and software components.
- The Sr. Backup Storage Engineer will have a comprehensive understanding of IBM storage systems, including configuration and management; be skilled in managing Dell storage systems, with capabilities in setup, troubleshooting, and optimization; ability in Net App storage solutions, such as ONTAP, Snap Mirror, and Snap Vault; scripting languages, such as Power Shell and Python, for automating storage management tasks and workflows;
proficiency with UNIX systems (including IBM AIX, Linux, and Client-UX) and TCP/IP, along with administering networking hardware; and the ability to design, deploy, and manage scalable and reliable cloud solutions across various platforms, including AWS, Azure, GCP, and IBM Cloud. - They will possess strong oral and written communication skills, effective time management, attention to detail, and the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
Required:
- This classification requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting F5 load balancing VIPRION based solutions for enterprise environments.
- At least three (3) years as a network administrator using, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting Cisco network equipment for enterprise environments.
- At least two (2) years of experience using, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting cloud-based load-balancers, servers, and network systems for enterprise environments.
- This classification requires possession of a bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
