Position Summary
Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior System Engineer - EV Powertrain to support the development, integration, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electric vehicle powertrain systems. The role requires experience with EV systems, high-voltage architectures, battery systems, CAN communications, vehicle controls, and system integration.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain EV powertrain system architecture, requirements, interfaces, and technical specifications.
- Integrate battery systems, vehicle controls, inverter/motor systems, DC/DC converters, onboard chargers, charging systems, and thermal management.
- Support powertrain integration into commercial vehicles and other OEM platforms.
- Develop and execute system integration, testing, and validation plans.
- Support vehicle commissioning, functional testing, road testing, and performance validation.
- Diagnose electrical, electronic, software, CAN communication, and powertrain issues.
- Analyze CAN messages, fault codes, system logs, and vehicle data to perform root-cause analysis.
- Work with engineering, manufacturing, service, suppliers, and OEM customers to resolve technical and integration issues.
- Support design reviews, FMEA activities, engineering changes, and validation documentation.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of engineering experience in automotive, EV, commercial vehicle, or electric powertrain applications.
- Direct experience with EV systems, powertrain integration, and high-voltage vehicle systems.
- Knowledge of CAN/CAN Bus and automotive communication protocols.
- Experience troubleshooting complex electrical and electronic systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and system architecture diagrams.
- Experience with engineering test and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a hands‑on engineering and manufacturing environment and travel as required.
- Experience with an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
- Experience with commercial EVs, buses, trucks, or medium/heavy-duty vehicles.
- Experience with BEV, EREV, or fuel-cell electric vehicle systems.
- Experience with lithium‑ion batteries, vehicle controls, inverter/motor controls, OBCs, DC/DC converters, and thermal management systems.
