Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is inviting behavioral intervention or management professionals to apply for Educational Behavioral Technician.

This position monitors students with special needs to identify and prevent or de‑escalate injurious and destructive behavior in the classroom and other school‑related areas; assists School Psychologists in therapy sessions and works with special needs students outside of therapy to promote positive and productive interaction and social behaviors.

Current vacancies are located in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall (7285 Quill Dr, Downey, CA 90242). However, the resulting eligibility list may be used to fill any vacancies located at other sites.

The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following Knowledge

Required

Education and Experience

Education:

Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Experience:

Two years of experience in providing behavioral intervention or behavior management services to individuals with emotional disability or behavioral challenges.

Equivalency Provision:
Certificate in a psychiatric technician or other similar mental health program from an institute of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation may substitute for one year of the required experience.

Additional Requirements:

May require a valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites. Positions in this classification are required to obtain and maintain a certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) upon hire.
