SPD Manager

Job Responsibilities

This position supervises, coordinates, plans, and manages the PIH Health Whittier Hospital Sterile Processing Department for sterilization, decontamination , assembly, packaging , and proper maintenance of sterile instruments and equipment . The SPD M anager develops a system to ensure instrumentation is available for surgeries and procedures in a timely manner . The manager is responsible for ensuring quality control throughout operations, including completion of sterilization , all quality check logs, cart exchanges and storage areas within Surgical S ervices .

Surgical Services includes Surgery, Same Day Surgery, GI Lab, and additional areas within the hospital where sterile equipment and instruments may be used . The Sterile Processing Manager provides leadership and accountability for assigned operations and direct reports. He/she p articipates in the budget process and works to maintain financial strength . The Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for hiring, counselin g, coaching and the overall performance of all direct reports.

This is a key position in the Department of Perioperative Services.
