Mainframe System Programmer

Are you a seasoned Mainframe Systems Programmer / DBA with strong experience in ADABAS, IMS, DB2, and CICS? We’re hiring for a highly impactful role supporting large-scale, mission-critical systems in a public sector environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex legacy systems, drive database modernization efforts, and play a key role in maintaining high-availability infrastructure.

• Lead and support installation, configuration, and upgrades of core database systems (IMS, DB2, ADABAS)
• Manage and maintain mainframe database environments on IBM z/OS
• Perform database design (logical & physical) and capacity planning
• Monitor and optimize database performance, storage, and availability
• Develop and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Conduct system health checks, tuning, and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with application development teams (COBOL/NATURAL) on design and performance improvements
• Perform evaluations and implement enhancements for DBMS tools and environments
• Support production systems and ensure stability in high-transaction environments

• Databases: IMS (DB/DC), DB2, ADABAS
• Transaction Processing: CICS
• Tools & Utilities: SMP/E, BMC Tools, IBM File Manager, CA Spool
• Additional Technologies: NATURAL, SUPERNAT, ENTIREX, DELTA/IMS, N2O/TRIM
• Security: ACF2 / NAT Security

• 7+ years of experience as a Systems Programmer / DBA in mainframe environments
• At least 3 years in a lead or senior technical role
• Strong expertise in legacy database systems and performance tuning
• Experience supporting large, complex enterprise or government systems
• Ability to work cross-functionally with development and operations teams

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
