We are seeking a Purchasing Manager who is responsible for overseeing production and materials planning, inventory control, procurement, and warehousing operations. This role leads multi-stage manufacturing planning and supervises purchasing, planning and materials handling teams.
Full-Time Position (Drug Test and Background Check Clearance Required) Starting Pay: $120,000-$125,000. (with double digits discretionary bonus potential)
Key responsibilities include creating and monitoring shop orders, ensuring timely delivery of raw materials, establishing and executing production plans and aligning operations with customer requirements to ensure on-time fulfillment. The Purchasing Manager works closely with plant production teams to coordinate activities and optimize workflow. The position drives the implementation of lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
WhatYou'll Do:
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership for the Purchasing function operation, ensuring project material requirements, quantities, lead times, and consumption rates align with production schedules.
- Establish and maintain materials management strategies that support operational goals for quality, cost, and delivery.
- Direct and oversee Procurement, Inventory Control, Receiving/Shipping, Planning, Scheduling and Materials Handling functions.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives by identifying and developing high-quality, lower-cost suppliers.
- Drive improvements in on-time delivery and inventory reduction through world-class materials management processes.
- Implement Lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance delivery performance, reduce costs and optimize inventory controls.
- Establish organized systems for forecasting and determining purchasing needs.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to prevent downtime and workflow disruptions.
- Support cross-functional collaboration with Production to improve schedule adherence and operational performance.
- Maintain up to date product knowledge to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Pursue ongoing professional development.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration (preferred) or equivalent minimum of 5+ years of Management experience in a manufacturing or relevant environment.
- Procurement experience required; demonstrated leadership in purchasing preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English preferred.
- Strong Experience in Master Scheduling, including sub-assembly scheduling, within high product-mix manufacturing environments.
- Proven background in Production Planning and Inventory Control.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles; APICS certification preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of MRPII systems.
- Proficient computer skills, including advanced analytical capabilities using tools such as Excel (access preferred).
- Experience working with accounting software (Sage Intacct or similar preferred)
- Experience working with purchase order software platforms
- Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to drive results.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization and vendors.
