Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.

Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.

Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.

Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.

Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.

Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.

Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions.

Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.

Properly prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.

Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.

Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.

Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.

Understand the store layout and locate products upon customer request.

Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.

Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer questions with suggestions.

Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and report discrepancies.

Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.

Promote trust and respect among associates.

Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by engaging with them about products.

Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.

Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.

Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.

Report customer or employee accidents to management.

Work cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments.

Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.

Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Knowledge of basic math
Ability to obtain a current food handler's permit upon employment
