This is an Open and Continuous recruitment to establish an eligibility list and fill vacancies. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list.
Position DetailsPositions in this classification are full-time 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.
Timeline and TestingThe recruitment process will consist of a written examination, performance examination and an oral technical interview, which is tentatively scheduled during the weeks of February 23 – March 13, 2026. Qualified applicants will be notified by email. Recruitment will close without warning when sufficient applications have been received. Testing may occur on a weekly basis.

FUNCTION
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, perform skilled duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electronic locks and access control systems, panic exit hardware, door closures, and related parts; make and duplicate keys; maintain master key systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install, repair, open, and remove mechanical and electronic locks and associated hardware, wiring and related devices; repair, open and remove locks; disassemble locks; clear keyways of obstructions; repair, replace and alter worn tumblers, springs and other parts; repair panic exit hardware, door closures, etc.
- Operate key-cutting machines to make or duplicate new keys as required.
- Change lock combinations as directed; maintain, repair, re-pin and re-combinate cylinders as required.
- Maintain master key systems including but not limited to wireless/electronic access; maintain records and security of duplicate keys.
- Utilize software programs and online systems to configure, set up, and install access control components.
- Use software programs along with online systems for pin and core combination control, master and submaster systems and individual room key records.
- Maintain electronic and hard copy records.
- Work with the required department(s) to assist with door replacement and installation. Operate a variety of equipment, tools and machines such as saws, grinders, drills and hand tools.
- Plan and lay out locksmithing tasks, order parts and supplies as needed; work with vendors on major re-key projects; maintain routine records; maintain inventory and requisition or buy new parts, extra locks and materials according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Respond to emergency key needs when keys are lost, or locks are broken.
- Overhaul, adjust and install door closers; calibrate door closures to meet handicapped requirements.
- Must demonstrate attendance sufficient to complete the duties of the position as required.
- Assist other maintenance personnel as necessary.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
