Fire Alarm Installation Technician (Greater Los Angeles Area)
NUTECH FIRE ALARM AND SECURITY is a progressive alarm company servicing Southern California. Full‑time positions available for Installation Technician. Prior experience as a fire alarm installer and current state fire card or registered apprentice required.
Responsibilities- Perform installation activities on fire alarm systems, nurse call, security alarm systems, CCTV, data, telephone, PA and card access systems.
- Install equipment according to designed drawings, including wire pulling, mounting devices and installing conduit.
- Troubleshoot system installations and perform necessary corrections.
- Pre‑test systems and perform final testing with AHJ.
- Manage onsite issues to ensure allocated project hours are met and not exceeded.
- Manage multiple small to large projects accurately and efficiently.
- Identify opportunities for change orders and sell basic product enhancements to customers.
- Serve as part of the installation team and provide service calls as needed.
- Evaluate and diagnose equipment requiring servicing and troubleshoot problems.
- Effectively service panels with hardwired zones or addressable systems independently.
- Provide specific solutions and recommendations to customers on the most efficient and cost‑effective methods to return equipment to working order.
- Assist in performing service calls as needed.
- Survey building alarm systems, consult with building engineers and property managers and make service recommendations to ensure trouble‑free system performance and compliance with maintenance and testing requirements.
- Perform account maintenance to maintain and strengthen relationships, provide customer status reports, attend sales meetings, and interface with commercial property managers and building engineers.
- Promptly respond to customer needs in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
- Submit daily installation reports, service reports, billing information and correspondence accurately and on time.
- High motivation, self‑starter able to work independently without supervision.
- Clean driving record and California driver’s license; reliable transportation required (may qualify for a company vehicle).
- Professionally presentable, dependable, positive and optimistic attitude.
- Three or more years of field experience as an installation technician in the industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in fire alarm and/or security systems (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of provincial building and fire codes for inspection purposes.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with various electrical products.
- High level of customer service and ability to express service solutions clearly and concisely.
- Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 40 lbs and climb ladders and scaffolding.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Organized, able to work without constant supervision, able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Ability to read blueprints and visually identify system components of alarm systems.
- Team player capable of coordinating with other departments.
- Working knowledge of fire codes and services.
