XDS is seeking a hands-on Bike Service Specialist to support our warehouse-based service operations in Downey, California, with occasional work at our Santa Monica office. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and preparing X-LAB bicycles; including returned bikes, warranty units, demo bikes, event bikes, and internal fleet bikes, as well as supporting daily warranty and service-parts fulfillment. The ideal candidate is an experienced bicycle mechanic who takes pride in safe, precise work and can bring a bike from uncertain condition back to a documented, presentation-ready standard.
What You’ll Do:Returned Bike Inspection and Repair
- Receive and inspect returned, exchanged, and warranty bicycles; document serial numbers, condition, missing parts, damage, and reported concerns, and diagnose mechanical, electrical, assembly, and cosmetic issues.
- Support remote diagnostics and damage assessments using dealer and rider descriptions, photos, videos, and reports; recommend troubleshooting, repair, parts replacement, or in-person inspection.
- Determine whether each bicycle should be repaired, refurbished, used for parts, or escalated for safety, structural, warranty, or disposition review.
- Complete repairs and component replacements involving drive trains, hydraulic brakes, wheels, cockpits, bearings, electronic shifting, e-bike systems, and related components.
- Perform final safety checks, functional tests, firmware updates, and test rides when appropriate before release.
- Clean, detail, touch up, and recondition approved bicycles for resale, demo, training, or internal use, including replacement of presentation-critical decals, bar tape, grips, hardware, and related parts.
- Grade completed bicycles consistently and document their condition and all work performed.
- Escalate any damage that may affect carbon-fiber structure, safety, warranty disposition, or resale classification rather than attempting an unauthorized repair.
- Assemble, tune, configure, and prepare demo and show bicycles for trade shows, dealer events, media activities, product launches, and employee use.
- Pack and unpack event bikes carefully and account for each bicycle, accessory, battery, charger, tool, and transport case.
- Inspect and service bikes promptly after events and provide occasional local event setup, teardown, transportation, or on-site mechanical support as needed.
- Locate, identify, verify, pick, pack, and prepare warranty and service parts for daily shipment, confirming part numbers, model compatibility, quantities, shipping details, and request documentation.
- Create or apply shipping labels, update tracking records, and promptly communicate shortages, damage, identification issues, substitutions, or required escalation.
- Maintain organized parts…
