Staff Accountant

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a short-term opportunity with a growing mid-sized company. This role will support the month-end close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and general ledger maintenance. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will play a key role in internal reporting, SOX compliance, audit support, and special projects.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll accounts
• Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and maintain monthly financial close workbooks
• Support implementation and adherence to internal controls and SOX compliance requirements
• Maintain capital lease schedules and monthly payment tracking
• Manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations
• Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain recurring journal entries
• Process intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliations
• Analyze financial data and present findings in a clear and meaningful manner
• Assist with financial statement preparation, cash flow projections, and budgeting activities
• Support quarterly reviews and annual audits by external auditors
• Participate in department initiatives, ad hoc reporting, and special projects
