Job Overview

Academic Instructor in the Special Education Department responsible for preparing students for success in college, career, and citizenship through critical thinking, academic excellence, and inclusive pedagogy.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, standards‑aligned instruction following the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Develop, adapt, and update curriculum materials to promote critical thinking, real‑world connections, and mastery of standards.
  • Support students in developing analytical reasoning, problem‑solving, and inquiry‑based learning.
  • Integrate technology and digital literacy skills into lessons.
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture that encourages collaboration and respect.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and help update curricular resources.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and colleagues on school policies, initiatives, and budgetary tasks.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment and implement required safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor or district leadership.
Qualifications
  • Massachusetts teacher licensure at the secondary level in an applicable content area (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
    Master’s preferred.
  • Strong curriculum development skills and experience creating engaging, standards‑aligned materials.
  • Effective classroom management and ability to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and current best practices.
  • Experience implementing research‑based instructional strategies including inquiry‑based learning and performance‑based assessments.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa status required.
