Overview
We are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Mechanical Designer/Drafter to join our team. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, highly organized, and thrives on translating engineering concepts into accurate, manufacturing designs in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. This role supports the design, documentation, and refinement of mechanical systems and components used in e‑beam systems.
Responsibilities- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D fabrication drawings for mechanical components and systems using Autodesk CAD tools.
- Develop and maintain accurate engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and revision control.
- Support new product development by converting conceptual designs into production‑ready documentation.
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
- Perform tolerance stack‑ups and basic structural evaluations as required.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, as well as the production team to ensure designs meet functional and production requirements.
- Provide hands‑on support for prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and production ramp‑up.
- Recommend design and drafting improvements to enhance manufacturability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Work with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and technical issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Autodesk CAD software;
Autodesk Inventor is preferred. - Strong drafting skills, including GD&T, dimensioning standards, and drawing best practices.
- Solid understanding of materials, mechanical components, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with high‑voltage or precision mechanical systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team.
- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and a proactive, positive attitude.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical design, drafting, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, preferably in manufacturing or high‑tech environments.
- Advanced experience creating production‑ready drawings and assemblies.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and shop practices.
- Demonstrated expertise using Autodesk Inventor is a plus!
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
