180 is seeking a Staff Accountant to support our accounting team with daily operations, month‑end close activities, and accurate financial reporting.
In this role, you will assist with journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and audit support while gaining hands‑on experience in GAAP and insurance‑related accounting. You’ll work closely with senior accountants and finance leadership as you develop your technical skills and contribute to a rapidly growing organization.
What you’ll do- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close activities, including preparing routine journal entries
- Perform balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, researching and resolving basic variances
- Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for leadership and FP&A
- Help compile GAAP and statutory financial statements under the guidance of senior team members
- Assist with internal, external, and regulatory audit requests by preparing schedules and documentation
- Maintain and update accounting process documentation
- Support internal controls by following established procedures and identifying areas for improvement
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and provide general accounting support as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
- 0–2 years of accounting experience; internship or insurance industry experience is a plus
- Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP; willingness to learn statutory accounting principles
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with developing analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to clearly communicate with team members and ask questions when needed
- Strong time‑management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines

The office environment is fast‑paced and collaborative. An employee must be willing and able to work their regularly assigned work schedule onsite, and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company or departmental needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
While performing general duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, comprehending, and reading; being able to lift light objects (25 lbs); and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist, or squat down to open/close cabinets and reach for files or other standard office‑type objects.
