Area Safety Manager- Heavy Civil Construction

Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction is looking for an Area Safety Manager to lead safety efforts across heavy civil projects throughout the region.

This is a hands‑on, field‑focused leadership role for someone who enjoys building relationships with crews, coaching field leadership, and helping drive a strong, proactive safety culture.

• Support and help lead safety efforts across multiple heavy civil projects
• Conduct site visits, audits, safety observations, and inspections
• Partner with project teams to identify and mitigate jobsite risks
• Coach field employees and leadership on safe work practices
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective action plans
• Help ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
• Deliver and support safety training initiatives
• Build strong relationships with crews, superintendents, and operations teams
• Promote and reinforce a proactive, team‑oriented safety culture

• Experience in heavy civil construction safety
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently to active jobsites
• Strong field presence and relationship‑building skills
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
• Ability to work collaboratively with operations and field leadership
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed

• OSHA 500/510 certifications
• CHST, CSP, or other safety certifications
• Experience supporting roadway, excavation, utility, concrete, or infrastructure projects
