Position Overview

This is a skilled position as an experienced Estimator/Project Manager involving the preparation of quantity estimates using material, labor and overhead costs and management of projects that are awarded to the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bid and manage multiple jobs concurrently.
  • Estimate earthwork, demolition, utility, paving, and heavy civil projects, including quantity take‑off, pricing, crew production and scheduling.
  • Visit project sites weekly to monitor progress, update schedules and review costs with the Project Superintendent.
  • Manage profit/loss of projects through weekly cost reviews.
  • Oversee awarded projects: enforce safety practices, create and update schedules, bill monthly, review job costs, manage/price change orders, and supervise subcontractors and vendors.
  • Work with owners/customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Bid 2 Win, Trimble Business Center, Plan Swift, Bluebeam, ViewPoint, and SAP.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Five or more years of construction estimating experience preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Compute percent land area, interpret bar graphs, and use databases.
  • Type accurately and use a keyboard efficiently.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulders.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment
  • Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outdoors, extreme cold or heat.
