An instructional coach collaborates with teachers to ensure high academic achievement for all students. This position is designed to increase individual and collective teacher capacity by utilizing skills centered around educator choice, dialogue, reflection, and praxis. The successful coach candidate will serve as a pedagogical specialist to assist in teacher development and the implementation of campus instructional plans aligned to LEA goals and curriculum.
The instructional coach works collaboratively with the instructional coaching team and is under the direction of school administration and the Director of Instruction.
This job reports to the Director of Instruction
Essential Functions- Partner with teachers and school administration to analyze student data, diagnose instructional needs, and identify research-based instructional strategies to close achievement gaps.
- Provide job-embedded professional learning for teachers including, but not limited to, modeling instruction that prioritizes student engagement, co-planning, and standards-based learning.
- Plan and facilitate individual and group instructional coaching and mentoring to teachers to improve classroom instruction and learning outcomes for all students.
- Plan, organize, and deliver in-service professional learning in a variety of settings with alignment to the Utah Professional Learning Standards.
- Organize and prioritize complex responsibilities, projects, and tasks within designated timelines.
- Ability to help others make sense of and adjust to change.
- Establish trust, rapport, and credibility with the entire school community.
- Differentiated support to teachers based on need and experience level.
- Seek resources and solutions to effectively solve problems while modeling a growth mindset.
- Facilitate LEA-level programs and professional learning as assigned.
- Participate in staff and team meetings and professional learning communities (PLCs) as required.
- Implement and recommend refinement for LEA systems related to coaching with integrity and professionalism.
- Collate with administration and teachers to review and develop aligned curriculum components including assessments.
- Integrate technology and provide teacher support as needed.
- Participate in ongoing personal professional learning experiences in which coaches examine their own practice, share ideas, problem-solve, and develop best practice expertise and tools as a means of enhancing the instructional practices of all teachers.
- Participate in appropriate educator evaluation procedures as per LEA guidelines and policy.
- Model professional and ethical standards when collaborating with all educational stakeholders.
- Meet regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance requirements.
- Adhere to and understand local laws, LEA policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- During times of state or LEA emergency, all employees may be required to perform additional duties that are not required on a normal basis in support of educational and operational priorities.

- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah.
- Minimum of five years of successful experience working as a classroom teacher.
- Advanced degree or comparable experience in content, pedagogy, or instructional leadership.
- A breadth of knowledge in instructional best practices and demonstrated success with student outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to implement effective strategies for learning including student engagement (Big
8), depth of knowledge, student agency, etc. - Strong communication skills and effective relationship-building with all educational stakeholders.
- Experience with skillful constructive feedback and discussion techniques preferred.
- Strong computer and educational technology skills. Must be willing to learn new technologies.
- Effective problem solving, organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
