Position OverviewLashbrook is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. This is not a typical internship focused on observation—you will contribute to meaningful engineering projects that directly impact our manufacturing operations.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers while taking ownership of projects that require creativity, initiative, and problem‑solving. The ideal candidate enjoys learning independently, takes pride in finding practical solutions, and thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Work On- Mechanical tool and fixture design
- CAD modeling and engineering drawings
- Machine optimization and process improvement
- Manufacturing automation projects
- Design and testing of production equipment
- Documentation of engineering processes and procedures
- Continuous improvement initiatives
- Prototype development and testing
- Other engineering projects as business needs evolve
Because we’re a relatively small engineering team, every day is different. You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of engineering disciplines rarely available in larger organizations.
Qualifications- Are pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or have graduated within the past year
- Have completed at least one college‑level CAD (Computer‑Aided Design) course
- Possess strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Are comfortable learning new software and manufacturing technologies
Can work independently with minimal supervision - Are organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid Works or similar CAD software
- CNC machining or manufacturing processes
- 3D printing
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement
- Automation or robotics
- Basic machining or fabrication experience
Unlike many internships where students spend most of their time observing, you’ll be trusted with projects that matter. You’ll have the opportunity to design solutions that are actually implemented, work directly with production personnel and engineers, learn advanced manufacturing techniques, gain experience with automation and precision machining, build a portfolio of real engineering accomplishments, and see your ideas improve manufacturing efficiency.
