About this RoleAs a Geological Engineering Intern, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineering geologists and geotechnical engineers to support design and construction activities for large energy infrastructure projects including substations, transmission lines, data centers, and others. You will assist with tasks such as geological site characterization, geologic risk analysis, and subsurface characterization for design of foundations (shallow and deep). This role is primarily office-based, with opportunities for occasional site visits.
WhatYou'll Do
- Assist with desktop-based geologic research, interpreting data collected from a variety of public and private sources.
- Assist with the collection and interpretation data derived from geotechnical characterization programs.
- Assist in geological and geotechnical data processing and data analysis.
- Participate in developing geologic and geotechnical project documentation.
- Collaborate with structural and geotechnical engineers and construction managers to ensure project goals are met.
- Perform basic research on geologic and geotechnical topics, and prepare reports or presentations as needed.
- Attend team meetings and learn about design-build (DB) and engineer-procure-construct (EPC) delivery methods.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field with a focus on structural design.
- Completed coursework in civil engineering fundamentals (e.g., geotechnical, structures, concrete, steel).
- Familiarity with structural modeling software such as LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineers.
