To assist the Tax Resolution/Compliance Manager with substantive analysis of tax notices and resolution of the same. This role involves supporting work connected to jurisdictional audits (IRS and state/local).
Key Responsibilities Tax Notice Analysis and Response- Analyze various tax laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Summarize tax information from client tax notices.
- Support the team in the formulation of responses relating to assigned tax notices.
- Under the direction of the Tax Resolution/Compliance Manager, communicate with tax jurisdictions to seek resolution of notices and respond to audit information requests.
- Speak with clients for scheduling and address entry-level questions regarding their tax notices and audits.
- Coordinate scheduling of meetings with client and team members, as well as taxing jurisdiction representatives.
- Solicit and coordinate POA (Power of Attorney) forms and responsibilities as needed.
- Communicate recommendations for client action as well as status, resolution, and outcomes of notices and audits.
- Perform required research of client history, filings, and facts and circumstances to determine the nexus of notices and/or audit requests.
- Communicate with taxing jurisdictions to pursue abatement, mitigation, and/or the resolution of notices and audits.
- Continuously improve tax analysis and preparation processes.
- Implement best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure all client documentation is accurately recorded and maintained.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Company management to support the overall objectives of the organization.

- Minimum EA (Enrolled Agent), CPA, or attorney with tax specialization.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with public accounting, corporate tax, and/or accounting at a firm, State Department of Revenue, or company.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in reading and interpreting tax notices and audit communications.
- Strong understanding of tax code, tax returns and business entities.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel (using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers, and/or print scaling).
- Experience with tax software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Additional certifications or coursework related to advanced tax strategies or financial management.
