NOC Engineer

About the Role

As an Operations Engineer at Proofpoint, you will monitor and maintain over 14,000 servers and 250 network devices across more than 8 data centers worldwide. You’ll troubleshoot routine and complex network, hardware, and OS issues in a global NOC environment, ensuring a 99.99% uptime rate.

Shift: 12:00PM – 11:00PM Mountain Time, four‑day workweek.

• Monitor internal and production systems and Escalate/pag a second‑level engineer as needed.
• Handle and resolve trouble tickets, coordinating with Engineering, Support, QA, and other teams.
• Document problem descriptions and detailed diagnoses in compliance with established practices.
• Review and update the status of problems in the trouble‑ticketing system.
• Assist in maintaining Operations documentation, including support guides and knowledge‑base articles.
• Participate in shift‑to‑shift handover and knowledge transfer.

• Previous experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or Operations environment.
• Strong Linux command‑line proficiency.
• Experience with Bash, Python, or other Linux scripting/programming languages.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios preferred).
• Knowledge of trouble‑ticketing systems such as Jira, Lighthouse, Bugzilla, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, initiative, and leadership abilities.
• Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.
• Experience working with Fortune Global
  500, highly integrated, multi‑vendor ecosystems.
• LINUX and/or Microsoft certifications are an asset.
• US citizenship is required.
