Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (LLPA) is a mission-driven institution dedicated to inspiring people to explore, discover, and learn about Earth’s diverse ecosystems. Founded in 1997, the Aquarium provides impactful educational experiences for guests of all ages and backgrounds.

Since opening its Draper, Utah facility in 2014, LLPA has welcomed more than 10 million visitors and delivered over 650,000 educational experiences to students. Home to over 4,000 animals representing 650 species, the Aquarium features immersive habitats from around the world, including coral reefs, kelp forests, the deep ocean, Antarctic waters, tropical rainforests, Asian cloud forests, and Utah’s freshwater ecosystems.

Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 2019, LLPA is in an exciting phase of growth. Position Summary:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance, and improvement of the organization’s systems and infrastructure. This role focuses on ownership and operational excellence rather than architectural design. The Systems Administrator ensures stability, security, and performance across all systems while supporting the organization’s technical needs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of IT experience in an office environment
  • At least 2-3 years of experience supporting user hardware and software
  • Experience with POS systems and database management preferred
  • Experience in systems administration or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of servers, operating systems, and networking fundamentals
  • Experience with device management and endpoint management tools
  • Ability to independently manage systems and resolve complex issues
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of security best practices
  • Proficient in diagnosing and resolving technical issues
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Own and manage day-to-day operation of server and system infrastructure
  • Administer and maintain network systems, ensuring reliability and performance
  • Manage device lifecycle and endpoint management systems
  • Oversee and support all organizational software systems and services
  • Implement and maintain system security, access controls, and best practices
  • Perform system patching, updates, backups, and routine maintenance
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and infrastructure problems
  • Collaborate with IT staff to support escalations and improve processes
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive system documentation
Physical Demands of the Job:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
