Job Summary
As a highly-skilled and compassionate Cath‑Lab Nurse, you will provide assistance with all invasive cardiac, vascular and interventional procedures, demonstrating clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to providing quality patient care. You will be part of a team that pulls together to provide a quality patient care experience.
Responsibilities- Responsible for all testing and therapeutics in the cath lab, including cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker procedures, tilt-table procedures, angioplasty, stent procedures, dialysis catheter procedures, nephrostomy and ureteral tube procedures, IVC filter procedures, IABP, pericardiocentesis procedures, and stress testing procedures.
- Facilitate effective communication among departmental staff using the SBAR process for hand‑off communication.
- Assist the patient through all aspects of the procedure: transport, site preparation, sterile procedure, patient monitoring, hemostasis following removal of catheter or sheath, and return to room; manage emergent cases.
- Maintain accurate, timely and compliant patient records, complete all paperwork associated with procedures, and prepare tests for physician interpretation.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization and function well under stressful situations.
- Collaborate with team members and orient as needed.
- Current nursing license in good standing.
- Associate’s Degree in nursing required; bachelor’s preferred.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS) within six months of hire.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.
- One or more years of Cath Lab experience.
