- One year of recent ICU RN experience
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) and ACLS (AHA/ARC) certifications
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
- TNCC, NIHSS certification
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive critical care to patients in the intensive care unit, including assessing and monitoring critically ill patients, operating life‑support equipment, administering advanced treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Essential Work Functions- Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing and responding to subtle changes in condition
- Administer complex medications and treatments in accordance with approved critical care nursing techniques
- Operate and manage advanced life‑support equipment
- Ensure patient safety and comfort in high‑acuity ICU environments
- Document patient conditions, reactions, and interventions in the medical record promptly
- Perform and interpret advanced hemodynamic monitoring (arterial lines, central venous pressure, pulmonary artery catheters)
- Provide education to patients and families regarding ICU environment, treatments, and recovery expectations
- Communicate closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care
- Maintain proficiency in critical care procedures and technologies through ongoing education and training
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols and hospital safety protocols
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance ICU outcomes and operational efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficient PC skills
- Physical abilities: stationary work, moving equipment up to 100 lbs, pushing/pulling, bending
- Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintain positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/motor skills: fine manipulation, push/pull, assist with procedures and equipment
- Mental requirements: handle frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work occasionally with close supervision or independently, manage irregular activity schedules and continuous concentration to detail
