Research Scientist, Clinical Research
Responsibilities
- Research expertise in the U.S. Mid‑South and South.
- Resource accessibility: quick identification and communication of feasibility.
- Skilled writer producing research logs, reports, and client updates.
- Manage client projects: define scope, budget, and resources.
- Organizational skills: ensure sessions run smoothly and delegate to the best researcher.
- Deliverables: good judgment to meet company and industry standards and client expectations.
- Billable hours: average 5.5 per day and meet an annual billable hours requirement.
- Effective communication: set clear expectations with clients, update every 4‑6 weeks, and resolve concerns promptly.
- Collaboration with CRMs and researchers throughout the session for project success.
- Standards: supervise research to accuracy and efficiency, aligning with client expectations.
- Feedback: coach research staff, and if coaching fails or the issue is unrelated to genealogy, escalate to the manager.
- Delegating: assign and direct work within the pod and to contractors.
- Regrouping: conduct regular meetings with pod members and be available for consults.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with professional genealogical research.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in History, English, or comparable experience.
- Experience in general U.S. research with specialty in the Mid‑South and Southern states.
- Proficient in applying DNA test results to genealogical research problems.
- Advanced expertise in brick‑wall research methodologies and evidence analysis.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience completing research journals/logs; understanding and creating citations; creating record abstracts, including analysis; writing narrative academic research reports; drafting clear, concise research plans; conducting genealogical research from start to finish within a set budget.
- Experience communicating with clients, particularly setting expectations and resolving issues.
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment and providing feedback and coaching to team members.
Base salary range: $64,300 – $68,314.50 with eligibility for bonus, equity and comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision. Salary will vary by geographic region and job experience. Salary data will be shared during the recruiting process.
