Overview
The sales associate is responsible for the sale of new and used powersports units. The initial impression the customer has of the dealership is influenced by the associate. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, product knowledge, and the ability to follow the dealership sales system. An outgoing, pleasant demeanor is essential for success.
Responsibilities- Acquire and maintain product knowledge of all vehicles sold at the dealership and explain features, functions, and benefits to customers.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of competitors and explain why the products sold are superior.
- Greet customers entering the dealership in a timely manner.
- Complete all paperwork in a timely manner as defined by dealership policy.
- Accurately fill out the daily traffic log within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Follow up with e backcustomers in the CRM.
- Fill out and mail thank-you cards for each customer who purchases a unit.
- Fill out buyers orders for all desked deals and account for them at the end of the day.
- Maintain a neat showroom and ensure units are cleaned, including wiping down units during lulls in activity.
- Ensure all vehicles on the showroom floor have drive-out tags installed.
- Ensure the customer lounge area and brochure area are neat and well stocked.
- Understand and apply all steps of the sales process with prospects.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with the dealership dress code and grooming standards.
- When a sale is made, arrange delivery with the service department and introduce the customer to service personnel during delivery.
- Follow up with customers a few days to a week after delivery to check satisfaction and solicit referrals.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Experience with Lightspeed or similar point-of-sale software, or the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Comprehensive knowledge of powersports brands such as Polaris, Indian, BRP, and Triumph.
- Powersports industry sales experience is preferred but not required.
- Works well in a team-driven environment with emphasis on knowledge sharing, mutual support, and customer satisfaction.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating both manual and automatic vehicles.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
