Heavy Equipment Operator, Building Maintenance
We are looking for a Long Reach Excavator Operator to join our team. As a Long Reach Excavator Operator with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials, you will be responsible for the critical maintenance of slurry ponds and settling basins. This role involves the precise excavation of silt and sediment to ensure optimal pond capacity and structural integrity. All work must be performed in strict accordance with MSHA Safety Standards and site-specific ground control plans.

- Slurry Pond Maintenance:
Utilize long-reach equipment to dredge, excavate, and remove silt and sediment from ponds. - MSHA Compliance:
Conduct and document mandatory pre-operational inspections per 30 CFR 56.14100. - Safe Positioning:
Maintain safe benching and distance from water edges, adhering to the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) guidelines for ground stability. - Erosion & Sediment Control:
Assist in grading pond banks and maintaining berm heights to prevent runoff or structural failure. - Routine Maintenance:
Perform daily greasing of the long-reach arm, monitor hydraulic systems, and ensure high visibility by maintaining cab windows and lights. - Site Coordination:
Work closely with haul truck operators and safety leads to manage the transport and disposal of wet materials.
We Require:
- Experience:
3-5 years of heavy equipment operation, with specific expertise in Long Reach Excavators. - Certification:
Current MSHA Part 46 or 48 (Surface) training certification. Would be preferred but training is available. - Technical Skill:
Ability to manage the weight distribution of an extended boom on soft or saturated terrain. - Communication:
Proficiency in using two-way radios and standard hand signals. - Must be able to maintain three points of contact when mounting/dismounting machinery.
- Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts in varying outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
- Visual depth perception required for operating a boom at its maximum 60ft+ reach over water.
