Job OverviewThe Utah National Guard is hiring a civilian Lead Electrician based at the National Guard Headquarters. This full‑time position involves planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating complex electrical operations for maintenance and construction projects throughout Salt Lake County and the Northern Area of Utah. Candidates are not required to be a member of the Utah National Guard; this is a civilian position within the agency.
Responsibilities- Establish preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate activities.
- Provide assistance in electrical matters and deliver on‑the‑job training.
- Determine power requirements, overload cutlet ratings, and surge protection measures.
- Design and submit plans for power distribution in new and remodeled structures, buildings, sheds, or other electrical systems or equipment.
- Wire and rewire electrical generators, alternators, control equipment, circuits in buildings and shops, or other electrical systems.
- Journey Electrician License.
- Established professional work experience as an electrician.
- Ability to lead and supervise staff in electrical matters.
- Clear understanding of electricity principles, theories, and practices.
- Strong knowledge of installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
- Understanding of electrical laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Knowledge of various machines and tools, including designs, uses, and maintenance.
- Skill to read and interpret charts, plans, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Licensed as Journey Electrician.
- Risks requiring special safety precautions and equipment, e.g., working around operating machines.
- Work requires physical exertion.
- Subject to a successful background check by internal investigators.
