Senior Software Engineer
Salt Lake City, Utah
Contract-to-Hire
$55 to $60 per hour contract with a conversion salary of $120K to $130K annually + bonus

Summary

The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops, and maintains scalable, modern applications that support business operations end to end. This role partners closely with product owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, high-quality full-stack solutions across web, mobile, and API-based platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in Microsoft and cloud technologies, provides technical leadership across the development lifecycle, and serves as a mentor while driving engineering excellence in a fast‑paced, collaborative IT environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and enhance applications using the approved technology stack, delivering solutions from intake through deployment within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Maintain and support existing applications by prioritizing and resolving issues submitted through service requests across development, QA, and production environments.
  • Modernize legacy applications by leading migrations to current architectures and technologies using established application remediation and modernization processes.
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Project Managers, engineering leaders, product owners, and stakeholders to communicate progress, risks, and delivery status.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across development, QA, and production environments.
  • Ensure code quality and security by adhering to coding standards, secure development practices, and performing code reviews, pull request management, and release processes.
  • Implement Dev Ops best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, automated deployments, and release management.
  • Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities across applications in alignment with enterprise security standards.
  • Partner with IT teams, solution providers, and business leaders to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable, standards‑aligned solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance on application architecture, repositories, environment setup, troubleshooting, and design best practices.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience developing web and mobile applications using the Microsoft technology stack.
  • 6+ years of hands‑on application development experience using technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, Web API, RESTful APIs, Blazor, React, Angular, HTML5, CSS, and SQL.
  • 2+ years of experience with tools and platforms including Visual Studio, Azure Cosmos DB, SQL Server, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric connectivity, Azure App Services, Docker and container registries, Azure Key Vault, Azure Configuration, Azure Entra, Easy Auth, middleware components, Azure Dev Ops, Azure OpenAI, Azure Communication Services, Application Insights, and Azure Monitoring.
  • 2+ years of experience working in Agile environments using Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
  • 2+ years of experience integrating and using productivity and quality tools such as Git Hub Copilot, Sonar Qube, and security scanning tools including Veracode and Snyk.
  • 4+ years of experience building and automating end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines for application releases and deployments.
  • Strong understanding of secure software development practices and modern Dev Ops workflows.
  • Ability to work onsite five days per week.
Bonus Skills
  • Experience designing and supporting hybrid (cloud and on‑premises) application architectures.
  • Background in application performance tuning, observability, and monitoring strategy.
  • Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing architectural decisions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, automation, and modern engineering practices.
