Join Our Team as a Family Help Practitioner

Are you committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families? Do you want to be part of a service that puts early intervention, relationships, and strengths-based practice at the heart of everything we do?

We're looking for a Family Help Practitioner to join our dynamic and supportive team in East Riding of Yorkshire Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to work directly with families who have complex and interacting needs, helping them to build resilience, achieve positive change, and reduce the need for statutory intervention.

About the Role

As a Family Help Practitioner, you'll:

  • Be the lead professional for families, coordinating multi‑agency support.
  • Undertake whole‑family assessments and develop outcome‑focused support plans.
  • Deliver a range of evidence‑based interventions, including parenting programmes.
  • Work flexibly across community settings, including homes, schools, and Children’s Centres.
  • Promote trauma‑informed practice and ensure the voice of the child is central to all work.
  • Support innovation and continuous improvement within the service.

This is a frontline role where your ability to build trust, work collaboratively, and deliver impactful support will be key to achieving better outcomes for children and families.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who:

  • Holds an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Has experience working with children and families to deliver preventative interventions.
  • Understands the social and economic challenges that affect family outcomes.
  • Can lead and coordinate multi‑agency support and assessments.
  • Has strong communication, time management, and partnership working skills.
  • Is flexible, values‑driven, and committed to continuous professional development.
  • Holds a full driving licence and has access to a vehicle.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a service aligned with national reforms and the Best Start for Life vision.
  • Work in a supportive, inclusive, and forward‑thinking environment.
  • Access ongoing professional development and champion roles within the team.
  • Help shape the future of Family Help in East Riding.
