Research Associate I - Microbiome Genetics

Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, or designee, the Research Associate I performs a variety of routine and increasingly complex research experiments. As a successful candidate, you will:
- Support microbiome research efforts by performing nucleic acid extractions and preparing sequencing libraries from a variety of specimen types.
- Perform extraction of high-quality DNA and RNA from microbiome samples, and preparation of libraries for 16S rRNA gene sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, and metatranscriptomics.
- Assist with receiving, aliquoting, cataloging, and storing biospecimens in accordance with established protocols.
- Have great attention to detail, good laboratory practices, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Your qualifications should include:
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences. 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience. City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location. City of Hope is an equal opportunity employer.
