Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Nath lab is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position in computational cancer biology. Our lab aims to enhance cancer treatment outcomes through two main research areas:
We use single-cell and bulk multiomic techniques to profile tumor samples, focusing on resistance mechanisms in breast cancer, glioblastomas, colon cancer, and lung cancer.
We integrate multimodal patient data, including multiomic data and health record information, to develop predictive models for drug response. Furthermore, we work on creating new treatment stratification methods to personalize treatment for individual patients.
More information about the lab can be found here: https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..org
Pay Rate: $34.25‑$37.82 per hour
As a successful candidate, you will:- Collaborate closely with experimental scientists, mathematicians, and medical oncologists/surgeons to plan, design, and execute computational analyses.
- Design, maintain, and optimize computational pipelines and software tools for integration of multi‑omics and clinical datasets to uncover mechanisms of tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance.
- Developing and applying state‑of‑the‑art artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms to discover robust prognostic and predictive biomarkers, and design clinically actionable treatment‑stratification frameworks.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and AI/ML research, and present findings to internal teams and external collaborators, as well as at conferences.
- Work with the PI to develop a career development plan and participate in various career‑growth opportunities.
- Ph.D. in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, or a closely related quantitative field. A degree in computer science is especially valuable due to the software engineering, algorithmic, and AI/ML components central to this role.
- Strong fundamentals in cancer biology and statistics are essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python/R, with experience in computational analysis of omics datasets.
- Experience with AI/ML algorithms and prediction model development.
- Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, software engineering best practices, and computational efficiency is highly desirable.
