Procurement Officer/Buyer

We are looking at onboarding a procurement officer/buyer whose primary responsibility is to assist in procurement with the periodic purchase of products/brands in products/brands in Timber, Structural Steel, Scaffolding, Hardware, electrical, sanitary, power tools and decorative materials etc.
Job Description:
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to identify reliable suppliers, both domestically and internationally.
- Identify and develop new suppliers and, establish strong relationships to ensure timely delivery of materials at competitive prices.
- Evaluate supplier’s performance and quality standards to ensure compliance with company requirements.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor market trends and fluctuations in prices to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to streamline the inbound transportation and storage of materials.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and contracts related to materials.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and strategies to optimize procurement processes and minimize expenses.
- Stay updated on industry developments, regulations, and best practices related to materials procurement.
- Assist in the development of procurement/purchasing policy to ensure that the company makes the best use of its procurement /purchasing power
- Prepare local purchase order (LPO) from the system and answer queries from Accounts department as and when required related to LPO and/or invoice
- Follow-up suppliers to ensure uninterrupted material supplies, this includes explaining and clarifying the technical specifications, arranging samples to ensure that it conforms to required specification.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in procurement, specifically in sourcing building materials.
- In-depth knowledge of materials, their specifications, and applications.
- Familiarity with the UAE market and suppliers of materials in the region.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and procurement software.
