Overview

The Assistant Manager – Business Finance will act as a strategic finance partner to business teams, supporting decision-making through financial analysis, performance tracking, budgeting, and forecasting. The role focuses on GMV, margins, marketing ROI, inventory economics, and working capital, enabling profitable growth in a fast-paced fashion e-commerce environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business & Financial Performance Management

  • Partner with commercial, marketing, supply chain, and category teams to drive profitable growth
  • Track and analyze GMV, Net Revenue, Gross Margin (PC1/PC2), G2N, Sell-through, Returns & Cancellation
  • Prepare weekly/monthly performance dashboards with insights and action points
  • Analyze business model performance (Outright, Marketplace, Cross-border, Internal Brands)

2. Budgeting, Forecasting & AOP

  • Support Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and rolling forecasts by:
  • Business model
  • Country
  • Brand / Category
    • Monitor budget vs actuals and highlight risks & opportunities
    • Support scenario planning (best case / base case / downside)
    • Assist in cash-flow forecasting and inventory phasing

    3. Marketing & Growth Finance

    • Evaluate marketing spends across Performance, CRM, Influencers, Affiliates, and Campaigns
    • Track ROI / ROAS / CAC / LTV and highlight optimization opportunities
    • Work closely with marketing team to align spend with topline and margin targets
    • Analyze impact of promotions, coupons, wallet credits, and shipping fees

    4. Inventory & Supply Chain Finance

    • Analyze inventory aging, cover, core vs non-core, markdown impact and liquidation scenarios
    • Support decisions on pricing, discounting, and sell-off strategies
    • Track fulfillment cost, shipping, COD cost, RTO, and warehouse metrics
    • Support working capital optimization initiatives

    5. Management Reporting & Decision Support

    • Prepare CEO / leadership presentations with clear insights and recommendations
    • Identify headwinds & tailwinds impacting topline and profitability
    • Conduct deep-dives on underperforming brands, categories, or countries
    • Support strategic initiatives, pilots, and new business models

    6. Cross-functional & Stakeholder Management

    • Act as finance SPOC for business teams
    • Coordinate with Accounting, Tax, ERP, Data, and Tech teams
    • Support audits, reconciliations, and data consistency between systems (Oracle, Magento, BI tools)
    • Ensure finance inputs are aligned with business realities
    Key Skills & Competencies

    Functional Skills

    • Strong understanding of e-commerce P&L and unit economics
    • Expertise in margin analysis, pricing, discounting & promotions
    • Budgeting, forecasting & scenario modelling
    • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets (mandatory)
    • Experience with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Micro Strategy preferred)

    Behavioral & Leadership Skills

    • Strong business partnering and communication skills
    • Ability to influence without authority
    • Structured thinking and problem-solving mindset
    • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environment

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Chartered Accountant / MBA (Finance)
    • 4–7 years of experience in:
  • E-commerce / Fashion / Retail / Consumer internet
  • Business Finance / FP&A / Commercial Finance
