UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) at the British Embassy in Dubai has vacancies for two Trade & Investment Officers to cover seasonal peaks in workload. The focus will be on a number of market sectors, including Education & Training, Skills; ICT;
Creativity;
Infrastructure (Mass Construction & Transport);
Oil & Gas;
Food & Drink;
Power & Water;
Life Sciences & Finance. Sectors to be covered will be determined according to experience. The positions are 8-month fixed term contracts running from October 2013 to May 2014.
Based in Dubai, the successful candidates will be line‑managed by the UKTI Team Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist Trade Advisers to ensure the UKTI team provides first‑class support to UK companies looking to trade in or with the UAE.
- Carry out market research on behalf of UK companies, ensuring accuracy and meeting agreed deadlines. Research will involve meetings with companies on the ground in Dubai & the Northern Emirates, promoting customers’ businesses, researching press and websites, and attending local exhibitions.
- Draft Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS) reports.
- Organise receptions and other events as required by customers. Assist with ministerial and official visits.

- Confidence when dealing with commercial contacts, senior government officials and visiting VIPs.
- Excellent team player with ability to take a wider perspective.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy in all Microsoft Office packages and accurate typing skills.
- Previous experience in any of the listed sectors, or with a trade promotion agency or events planning organisation, is an advantage.
The Embassy offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: salary of AED 10,130 per month, inclusive of all allowances, Band 13; five weeks vacation each year; free on‑site parking and free access to on‑site swimming pool, gymnasium and sports facilities. The pro‑rata principle will apply to annual leave.
