Features Editor, Vogue in the Middle East
The Features Editor is responsible for producing, commissioning and editing fashion news and features for Vogue’s print edition and all digital platforms. Reporting into the Head of Editorial Content, you’ll be one of the most experienced writers and editors on the team and one of the most connected journalists in the industry. As such, you’ll play a key role in shaping Vogue’s tone of voice and direction.
You will commission, edit, and write dynamic and innovative content that touches on all of Vogue’s verticals - from entertainment and culture to fashion and luxury. A solid understanding of the Middle East audience is essential for this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Working with the Head of Editorial Content and other editorial leaders to generate, commission and edit story ideas for all of Vogue’s platforms.
- Writing stories on a variety of topics, ranging from entertainment and lifestyle to beauty and opinion pieces.
- Collaborating with international colleagues in Vogue’s global network to identify story opportunities from across the globe, and to contribute stories from the Middle East to the rest of the network.
- Working in conjunction with the Condé Nast Talent Group to identify and secure celebrity talent to work with Vogue.
- Contributing to the social, digital and video strategy.
- Staying abreast of developments within the entertainment, lifestyle and entertaining industries to ensure that Vogue stays ahead of the competition in its coverage and its working relationships.
- Understanding and building commercial relationships and working with the commercial team on special projects whenever necessary.
- Representing Vogue within the industry, from attending press openings and events to contributing to panels.
- 7+ years of experience at a digital or print publisher, writing copy and commissioning and editing colleagues.
- A flair for storytelling and a proven track record of identifying trends and topics to cover - and the best way in which to write and engage with our audience.
- Experience with SEO, and using and acting on data collected from key analytics tools.
- An entrepreneurial mind-set, with a focus on new opportunities for stories and areas for audience growth.
- Strong understanding of the Middle East market, with a solid network of regional and international contacts.
- Strong interpersonal communications skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across myriad departments and differing levels of seniority.
- An understanding of the Vogue brand.
- A comprehensive contacts book, encompassing everything from Hollywood PRs to blockbuster contributors.
- Experience of working closely with business teams to identify and collaborate on revenue-generating projects, whether commercial or consumer.
