Position ObjectiveTo lead the design and product direction of the knits category (covering all jersey and knitwear) while remaining hands‑on in design. The role supports the Senior Design Manager and Head of Design in delivering the department strategy and ensures commercially strong, on‑brand ranges are developed to cost, quality, and timeline.
Key Responsibilities Product & Design Direction- Own and drive the product direction for the knits category
- Lead trend direction, identifying key shapes, silhouettes, and outfit solutions
- Actively design key styles while guiding the wider category offer
- Build cohesive, commercial seasonal ranges aligned to brand strategy
- Lead fabric sourcing and development, ensuring quality and value
- Oversee print and graphics direction in collaboration with the Graphics Designer
- Ensure strong technical execution across all knit and jersey product
- Produce and oversee accurate tech packs
- Lead and attend fit sessions, ensuring fit, quality, and cost targets are met
- Work closely with Buying, Merchandising, and Technical teams to meet critical path
- Line manage and develop the Knits Designer and Graphics Designer
- Support the Senior Design Manager and Head of Design in delivering departmental objectives
- Present ranges and concepts confidently to all levels of the business
- Build and maintain strong supplier and mill relationships
- Undertake overseas and UK travel as required to support sourcing and development
- Strong experience designing knits and jersey in a value or high‑volume fashion environment
- Excellent technical knowledge of knitwear and fabrics
- Proven ability to build commercial, balanced ranges
- Confident trend interpretation with a commercial mindset
- Experience managing or mentoring junior designers
- Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills
