Overview
Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai is looking for a Director of Finance to join our Executive Committee team. The hotel offers 224 luxury Residences and 259 Rooms & Suites with a stunning fusion of modern design and oriental flair, redefining hospitality standards. Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Finance department, the Director of Finance is responsible for the determination of optimum control objectives and for the installation and maintenance of appropriate internal control systems over income, expenditure, assets and liabilities within the hotel.
The Director of Finance reports to the General Manager.
- Oversees the development, implementation and maintenance of all financial controls, accounting procedures and internal control systems in alignment with corporate policies, GAAP and the hotel’s management contract.
- Acts as a key member of the hotel’s leadership team, supporting the General Manager, ensuring contract compliance and escalating discrepancies to corporate management when required.
- Drives profitability by identifying improvement opportunities, encouraging analytical reporting, and supervising teams to enhance both financial performance and guest experience.
- Leads employee development through structured training, evaluation programs and succession planning to maintain high professional standards and operational continuity.
- Manages treasury functions, working capital, cash flow, receivables, inventories and data‑processing operations to ensure liquidity, efficiency and adherence to corporate guidelines.
- Ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, robust asset protection, adequate insurance coverage, proper cash control and the establishment of strong credit and collection policies.
- Strong educational foundation, including a Degree in Finance.
- Extensive accounting background with at least 8 years of experience, including a minimum of two years in a comparable leadership role.
- Proficiency with hotel POS and PMS platforms such as HMS, Infrasys, Opera, PSMS, Info Genesis and Micros.
- Excellent working knowledge of financial and accounting software, particularly SUN System.
- Excellent communication abilities in English, both written and verbal, with the capacity to convey financial information clearly.
- High-level analytical capability supported by advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel and Word.
